London Gatwick by rail

Gatwick Express

The easiest and fastest way to get to and from Gatwick is with Gatwick Express. Trains leave every 15mins from 4:35am to 1:35am from London Gatwick’s South terminal. The service is nonstop between Gatwick and LondonVictoria and takes approximately 30mins.

Express class single fares start at £16.90 per adult (£8.45 for Children). The express class service includes the following:

Thameslink offers a service to and from Gatwick calling at London Bridge, Blackfriars and Kings Cross. Trains leave every 30mins and a standard single fare is £9.80. The average journey time into London Bridge takes approximately 40 minutes.

This service is ideal if you are looking for a cheaper option to the Gatwick express or if you wish to arrive at the alternative destinations mentioned above.

Southern Railways operate a service between Gatwick and London Victoria. Trains leave every 15mins during the day and every hour between 1am and 4am. The average journey time is 35mins and a standard single ticket costs £8.90.

This is the best value for money option to or from Central London. It is £8 cheaper than the Gatwick Express and the journey time is only 5mins longer.

London Gatwick by Coach

National Express operates a regular coach service between Gatwick and London Victoria. Coaches depart approximately every hour and the journey time depends on the route taken and the time of the day. Single fares are £6.60 and a return is £11.40.

National Express also offer a “Hotel Hoppa “service which takes you to and from your Hotel to Gatwick airport for £3. And children travel for just 50p. Tickets can be bought from the bus driver, your hotel or you can book online.

In addition to the “Hotel Hoppa” there is an inter airport service which links all of London’s airports and it is the only direct link between them. So if you have arrived at Gatwick and have to transfer to Heathrow, Stansted or City we suggest you use this service.

Not all the services are accessible to wheelchairs yet, however National Express has indicated that their entire network will fully accessible by 2012.

Easybus – Operate a low cost high frequency service from Fulham Road to Gatwick. The coaches are not hard to miss in their distinctive orange colour and the service runs every 20mins from 6am till 11pm. London Gatwick by Taxi

Like all the other London airports there are plenty of taxis queuing for customers. It is advisable to use a Black cab or reputable mini cab service. Black cabs are licensed and use a regulated metered service. An average cost for a journey into central London will set you back approximately £70 in a black cab but this is dependent on traffic.


It is advisable to use only reputable taxi’s and if you are using a minicab ensure that you agree the fee beforehand. Gatwick’s official taxi concession is “Checkers Cars”.
